A dynamic blues, jazz, and soul singer/harmonica player, John stretches the traditional boundaries of blues harmonica over all these genres. The result is a unique blend of American music that's both uptown and lowdown.
His relaxed delivery is the result of decades spent performing at festivals, clubs, restaurants, riverboats and juke joints throughout the southeast.
John teaches harmonica for the Alabama Blues Project and is a member of the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame.
Organ
Drums
With harmonica in place of the usual guitar or sax, this is a unique spin on an organ trio vibe, and the sound is big. This trio can command a large festival stage, or play comfortably in a living room, when Bobby brings his cool little cocktail drum kit. The sound fits John's blend of blues, jazz, and soul music like a glove.
A frequent and very special addition to the group, Peggy Walker has been singing with John for years, but her career goes back much further; in 1960's Nashville, as Peggy Gaines, she recorded a slew of hit R&B singles and appeared on the televised music show 'Night Train'.
